How to use this
A pip is the standardised unit of price movement for the instrument you're trading. On most forex pairs, a pip is the fourth decimal place (0.0001). On JPY pairs, it's the second decimal (0.01). On gold (XAUUSD), brokers vary - some define a pip as 0.10, others as 0.01. What matters is what one pip is worth in YOUR account currency, because that's the unit your profit and loss are measured in.
For a USD account on EURUSD, a standard lot (100,000 units) gives you $10 per pip. Trade a 0.10 lot, and it's $1 per pip. The pip-value calculation drives every other risk number: position size, profit target value, stop-loss cost.
