Cookie Policy
What cookies this site uses, why, and how to manage them.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored in your browser that lets a website remember things about you between page visits. Cookies can be "first-party" (set by this site) or "third-party" (set by a service we use, such as Cloudflare or Google Analytics).
2. Cookies this site sets
| Cookie | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| session | Essential | Keeps you logged in, remembers your pricing lane, carries flash messages between pages. | Browser session or 30 days if "Remember me". |
| pricing_lane | Essential | Remembers whether you're being shown KES or international prices. | 90 days |
3. Cookies set by the services we use
| Service | Cookie | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | __cf_bm, cf_clearance | Bot protection, rate limiting. Essential for the site to work. |
| Google Analytics (when enabled) | _ga, _ga_* | Aggregate traffic statistics. IP addresses are anonymised. |
| Stripe (on checkout pages only) | __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid | Fraud prevention during payment. |
4. Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari all have cookie controls). Blocking essential cookies (session, pricing_lane, Cloudflare) will prevent login and checkout from working. Blocking analytics cookies has no effect on your access.
To opt out of Google Analytics specifically, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
5. Do Not Track
We respect the "Do Not Track" browser signal for our analytics: when DNT is set, analytics cookies are not loaded.
6. Changes
If we add a new category of cookie, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes (e.g. adding advertising cookies, which we do not currently use), we'll prompt returning visitors to re-consent.
